The Borussia Dortmund striker can sign a pre-contract deal in January and has strongly hinted that he would like a move to England but which team would benefit more?

Robert Lewandowski revealed on Monday that playing in the Premier League is an ambition of his and insisting that he has not signed a pre-contract deal with Bayern Munich.

The Borussia Dortmund striker's current deal expires next summer, leaving him as one of the most in-demand transfer targets over the next 12 months.

Assuming that the 25-year-old spoke truthfully about the reports of a deal with Bayern, there could be a host of Premier League clubs in for the Poland international, but who would be the best option?

Lewandowski was identified as Manchester United's prime target this summer before he announced his intention to move to Pep Guardiola's side. However, he has since backtracked, leaving the door open for a move to Old Trafford.

But with the Red Devils stumbling under David Moyes and Wayne Rooney's future uncertain, there is a possibility that one of their Premier League rivals could steal a march.

It is no secret that Arsenal need more depth up front as Olivier Giroud continues to spearhead the Gunners' attack with little alternative around him, while Tottenham and Chelsea both lack goalscoring options as Roberto Soldado, Jermain Defoe, Samuel Eto'o, Demba Ba and Fernando Torres struggle.

Meanwhile, across Manchester, Manuel Pellegrini continues to mould the City team into his own. Alvaro Negredo has had a positive impact but Lewandowski would be an even bigger statement of intent as the 2011-12 champions look to reclaim their position at the summit of English football.
