Orange Is The New Black' Season 2 Spoilers: Cast And Creator Jenji Kohan Reveal Teasers Ahead Of Premiere Date

The first season of "Orange is the New Black" ended in a good old-fashioned prison yard fight between Piper (Taylor Schilling) and Pennsatucky (Taryn Manning). Netflix binge-watchers that witnessed the bloody beating wondered if the meth-head turned devout Jesus lover even survived. When viewers last saw Piper it seemed she caught a case of Crazy Eyes. Before the women of Litchfield return to the small screen, the cast and creator Jenji Kohan revealed some second season teasers at New York's PaleyFest on Wednesday. Below is a roundup of "Orange is the New Black" season 2 spoilers to date. The Netflix original series release date is currently set for 2014.
Pennsatucky will live to tell the tale. Taryn Manning confirmed she will return for "OITNB" season 2, perhaps with a mouthful of new teeth. It's unlikely that Piper will walk away from the bloodstained bout without any consequences. Kohan reveals that Piper will be "a little shaky" in season 2, continuing to adjust to prison life and find a balance in her behavior. Manning reveals that her character Pennsatucky is also in "pretty bad shape" following the finale showdown. While it seems the future is bleak for Piper and Pennsatucky, Manning believes there is still potential for the two to resolve their differences. We did see a brief moment of reconciliation in season 1, though if you show any signs of stabbing the Bible enthusiast in the back you better brace yourself.

Less Piper, More Prisoners

The first season was very much a story on Piper's journey and adjustment to prison life, though viewers got glimpses into the pasts of other prisoners. It appears "Orange is the New Black" season 2 will have more backstories and less Piper. With such a diverse and adored ensemble, this transition is probably good news for many viewers. Which characters' pasts will be showcased in season 2? Jenji Kohan said we will see flashbacks of Crazy Eyes (Uzo Aduba), Red (Kate Mulgrew), Poussé (Samira Wiley) and Black Cindy (Adrienne Moore), with potential for more. Don't worry, though, Piper will still be very much prevalent in season 2, though the show is starting to more evenly balance the focus on a variety of inmates.

Laura Prepon Departure

Sadly, fan favorite Alex Vause (Laura Prepon) will not get more devoted air time. In fact, it has been confirmed that Prepon will only return for one episode to give viewers closure in her storyline. No details on her send-off have been revealed, yet, but Prepon admits that she knows how her character Alex will exit the series. If you recall, Alex and Nicky (Natasha Lyonne) sparked a little romance in the first season. How will Alex's departure affect the recovering heroine addict? "OITNB" season 2 will also highlight Nicky's personal life, which will include Alex and former flame Morello (Yael Stone).

"I think Morello is super hot, but I'm also a little bit sick of her not treating me like an equal human being and always talking about her fiancĂ©. Like Nicky's getting her feelings a little hurt, so if Morello wants to show up in a healthier way for Nicky and really say, 'I'm here to be your girlfriend,' maybe I'll have an open mind to it," Lyonne says. "None of this necessarily comes up in the second season, but that's the story I've written in my mind."

OITNB Season 3?

Netflix renewed "Orange is the New Black" for a second season before the first season even debuted. With so much buzz surrounding the show, it's likely the "OITNB" fans will implore a third season. If there is an "Orange is the New Black" season 3, what can viewers expect to see? Creator Kohan says that if there is a third season, the show might focus on the guards more. The first season teased a little backstory on Prison Guard John Bennett (Matt McGorry). The much-loved guard reveals his time spent fighting overseas as well as his amputated leg (which, surprisingly, happened as a result of a Florida Jacuzzi). Though, I would personally love to know more about the vile, yet oddly sensitive, Pornstache (Pablo Schreiber).
